Dr Ashok B is one of the very few super specialist pulmonologists in the
city who has done his DM in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine from a very prestigious institution
He has an experience of 12 years in the field of pulmonology. His expertise is in
dealing with all kinds of respiratory diseases, Sleep Disordered Breathing
conditions and Critical Illnesses.
He is well versed with diagnosis and treatment of chest diseases like
Respiratory Allergies like Bronchial Asthma & ABPA, Chronic obstructive airway
disease (COPD), Bronchiectasis, Respiratory Infections (including Tuberculosis,
Fungal infections & Atypical Infections), DPLD (ILD), Sarcoidosis, Lung Cancer,
Mediastinal Diseases, Pleural Diseases (pleural effusion, empyema,
hydropneumothorax, etc), Pulmonary Vascular Diseases (Pulmonary
hypertension, pulmonary embolism, vasculitis, etc), Occupational Diseases
involving respiratory system.
He is proficient in managing acute conditions of respiratory system like acute
respiratory failure due to various causes like exacerbation of
COPD/ILD/neuromuscular weakness, cardiac failure, foreign body aspiration,
pneumothorax, etc. He is also very well experienced in treatment of chronic
respiratory failure at home with oxygen therapy and home NIV with or without
tracheostomy tube.
He is well experienced in performing procedures like Flexible bronchoscopy,
Rigid bronchoscopy, Medical Thoracoscopy and EBUS. Through these he does
sampling of respiratory system lesions like BAL, endobronchial biopsy,
transbronchial biopsy, Transbronchial needle aspiration for diagnosis of
cancers, infections & other pulmonary diseases. He also expertises in managing
airway lesions like stenosis, external compression, intraluminal tumours &
foreign body by electrosurgical knife/snare, APC, balloon dilatation, coring,
cryo & stenting of airways. His field of interest is in managing snoring, obstructive sleep apnea
disorder(OSA)
